Barb to field test new TV viewing meter for PCs
Households in the panel will be equipped with a ‘virtual meter’, based on the technology currently fitted to set-top boxes in Barb’s in-home viewing panel, which can be attached to PCs or laptops.
The technology is currently being designed by TNS, Barb said, and will allow viewers to manually register when they watch audiovisual content, as well as being able to track viewing automatically.
Barb is currently in the process of recruiting the panel, which will be made up of 75 homes and will run for six months.
The UK is the first country to test the new device, the organisation said.
