BBC marketing and audiences boss Helen Normoyle to leave

UK— The BBC’s director of marketing and audiences Helen Normoyle is to leave the broadcaster in May to take the role of chief marketing officer at furniture retailer DFS.

Normoyle joined the BBC in 2008 as head of audiences. She went on to become director of marketing and audiences and was replaced in her original role by James Holden, who remains with the corporation.

In an email to staff informing them of her departure she said: “It is very hard to leave such an energetic and talented team who have achieved so much – but I do so knowing that the marketing and audiences team will continue to thrive under new leadership.”

The BBC told Research that it had not started looking for a replacement for Normoyle and declined to comment further on how the change would affect the marketing and audiences team.

Before joining the BBC Normoyle serving as director of market research for communications watchdog Ofcom. On the agencyside she has worked for Infratest+GfK.
