Retail traffic counter ShopperTrak readies European expansion

UK— ShopperTrak, whose technology counts and analyses footfall in malls and retail stores, has announced its expansion in Europe following the acquisition of its UK-based licensee RCT Analytics.

The 15-year-old Chicago-based company’s video analysis technology allows store and mall owners to count visitors and analyse their movements in order to identify opportunities to increase conversion. Its service is used in 40,000 locations in 72 countries, and it aims to reach a total of 6,000 locations in Europe.

As well as a London office, the company has sales offices in France, Germany and Dubai.

CEO Christopher Ainsley said: “Our long-term partnership with RCT made the investment a logical next step to better address the needs of our growing client base.”

ShopperTrak hopes to expand its work with existing multinational clients in Europe, as well as working with new clients in the region. The firm is set to announce the appointment of a CEO for the European business in the coming weeks.
