Topsy adds new APIs for Twitter Firehose metrics

US — Social analytics platform Topsy has launched a set of social data APIs that aims to turn the Twitter Firehose into streams of metrics and content for brands and agencies.

Topsy’s social data APIs fuel an array of solutions, including Twitter’s Election Hub and TheTruth.com’s social voting application. It gives brands, agencies, media and developers the ability to integrate social metrics, insights, and content from any time period or in real-time directly into their applications or social dashboards.

The launch comes the week after the company added sentiment to its free product suite and the new APIs include: Metrics APIs to handle instant exact counts of terms and tweets; Insight APIs for instant discovery of influence; and ContentAPIs for relevance and top tweets.

Topsy SVP of product and marketing Jamie de Guerre said: “By doing the heavy lifting of analysis and enrichment for developers, we’re looking to unlock the power of real-time social conversations and catalyse more widespread usage of this information.”
