Twitter focuses on mobile analytics with Crashlytics acquisition

US — Twitter has acquired analytics and crash-reporting tool Crashlytics, an insights dashboard used by companies to find out the performance of mobile apps including when they crash and what the root cause of this was.

The technology aims to automatically deliver insights to developers about the reasons for crashes of their mobile app, including the exact line of code that caused the crash. Crashlytics is currently only available for Apple iOS apps, though it is expected to be available for Android later this year.

Crashlytics co-founders, Jeff Seibert and Wayne Chang, said: “With this announcement, much will remain the same. Development of Crashlytics will continue unabated and we remain dedicated to working with all of our customers – current and new, big and small – to deliver the key app performance insights they need.

“Going forward, we’re thrilled to work with the incredible team at Twitter. We share a passion for innovating on mobile and building world-class applications. Joining forces will accelerate our build-out, allowing us to leverage Twitter’s infrastructure to deliver new features faster than ever.”
