Bowker merges publishing research ops

US— Book publishing information firm Bowker has merged its market research operations – PubTrack Consumer in the US and Book Marketing Limited in the UK – into a new entity, Bowker Market Research.

The new division will house all the company’s existing research offerings, including consumer research products from the UK and US, industry statistics, the UK’s Book Marketing Society and US bibliographic statistics.

Jo Henry, who has led Book Marketing Limited since 1996, will be in charge of day-to-day operations at Bowker Market Research and report to Kelly Gallacher (pictured), who was previously in charge of PubTrack and has been given the role of vice president in the newly-merged body.

Gallacher said: “The union was a natural next step. Each built premier book consumer panels – PubTrack Consumer in the US and Books & Consumers in the UK – that produce reliable, authoritative research for the countries’ leading publishing houses and retailers. With these key elements of Bowker Market Research in place, our business intelligence expertise now expands to serve the global publishing community.”
