Business analysts among key focus for government digital apprenticeship scheme
The role of business analyst is one of the four most in-demand roles the programme is focusing on initially, along with software developer, DevOps engineer and cyber security technologist – risk.
In a blog published on the GDS website, Angie Jones, strategic communications lead, and Richard Kelly, digital capability programme lead, said: “Alongside the reskilling of thousands of existing civil servants, TechTrack represents a bold commitment to ensuring we have the critical skills needed to revolutionise public services through technology – generating opportunities nationwide and delivering tangible benefits to citizens.”
The TechTrack programme, which aims to address critical skills gaps in government, is at the “heart” of the government’s plans to digitally transform public services, GDS said.
The programme opened in summer 2024 and the first cohort of 50 apprentices started in February, in government departments including the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Department for Education.
