Community engagement business Zencity buys Commonplace
Commonplace works with public bodies and private sector groups on their community engagement and co-design for planning projects.
The company offers a community sentiment mapping, survey and communication platform (pictured), and operates in the UK and Ireland. Clients include the Mayor of London, Leeds City Council and Westminster City Council.
Zencity is a government technology company headquartered in New York City with offices in London, Tel Aviv and Vancouver. Leaders use its platform to access community input tools and analytics for decision-making.
Through the acquisition, Commonplace’s map-based features and subscriber management will be adopted into the Zencity platform. The combined company will work with cities, agencies and businesses in six countries, including 45 US states.
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Eyal Feder-Levy, chief executive and co-founder, Zencity, said: “This acquisition not only allows us to expand our presence in the UK market but also gives every Zencity customer access to unique capabilities in planning. We are excited to work together to continue setting the standard for community engagement globally.”
Mike Saunders, chief executive of Commonplace, said the partnership would offer its customers “access to new and enhanced capabilities that come with being a part of a larger company”.
