ComScore drops Media Metrix setup fee in Southeast Asia
The move follows the waiver of the $5k setup fee in the US earlier this year. Though no explanation was given for that decision, it was speculated that the price of entry was too high for many small publishers, making free measurement services more appealing than ComScore’s paid-for alternative.
Site tags are used by Media Metrix 360 to collect data on site-specific visitor activity and this is then overlaid with data from a panel of consumers who have agreed to let ComScore monitor their behaviour across the web.
ComScore’s Joe Nguyen, vice president for southeast Asia, said: “[The fee waiver] will be especially important for small and medium-size publishers who will now have the ability to tag their sites with ComScore, joining major publishers that have already adopted this solution. Now publishers will be compared on par with each other.”
