Facebook to add ‘time spent’ feature

US – Facebook is testing a time management tool that would allow users to see how much time they are spending on the social network.

Facebook on a phone

The company is planning to release a feature called ‘Your Time on Facebook’, which shows time spent on the Facebook app on mobile in the past seven days, according to TechCrunch

The feature, which was discovered by app researcher and engineer Jane Manchun Wong in Facebook’s Android app, will also let users set up alerts for when they have reached their self-imposed limits.

The addition is the latest in a series of moves by tech companies to provide tools that allow people to check and manage their usage, amid increasing scrutiny over the potential negative impact of social media on people’s mental health.
