The search came ahead of weekend primary elections for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy opposition, co-organised by the polling company.

China introduced national security legislation in Hong Kong on 30th June, reducing the city’s autonomy.

According to a Reuters report, pollster Robert Chung of the Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute said the police copied some information from computers. The police confirmed to Reuters that they had searched the office.

An estimated 600,000 people voted in the primary elections over the weekend, ahead of legislative council polls in September.
