Leger acquires Happiness Indexes

CANADA – Polling and market research company Leger has bought the Relative Happiness Index (RHI) and the Workplace Happiness Index (WHI) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded and created by Pierre Côté, the tools allow citizens in Canada and France to measure happiness in their lives at home and work. Leger intends to extend these into the US following the acquisition.

Côté will join the Leger team as research director and remains a RHI and WHI partner.

Every year, the Relative Happiness Index is consulted by more than 100,000 people answering surveys. Indexes can be generated from the Happiness Index, such as a ranking of happiest cities, a barometer of the happiest jobs or the best employers.

Jean-Marc Léger, president of Leger, said: “With the difficulty that companies have when it comes to recruiting and retaining employees, the Workplace Happiness Index is a necessary tool to measure the quality of the workplace climate and to increase employee performance and retention.”
