Media research veteran Roger Gane to retire in March
Gane (pictured) has been research director at RSMB since 2004, before which he spent seven years as managing director of what was then known as Ipsos-RSL, the UK media research division of Ipsos.
He was also the first managing director of radio ratings body Rajar, a position he held from 1992 to 1997. Earlier in his career he worked for AGB Research.
Gane continues to work with Rajar and its TV counterpart Barb, as RSMB is a contractor for both organisations.
His boss at RSMB, managing director Steve Wilcox, said: “I’d like to thank Roger for the considerable contribution he has made to RSMB in general and on the Barb and Rajar contracts in particular. We wish him a happy retirement.”
David Harrison, the former director of knowledge for TV channel Five, is set to take on many of Gane’s responsibilities after he retires. He joins the company as commercial director in April.
RSMB is also taking on former GfK and AGB Nielsen client service director Ross Wightman in the newly created role of head of business development.
Wilcox said: “Whilst we are sorry to lose Roger I am delighted that David will be joining us in a similar capacity, thus ensuring overall management of RSMB remains strong.
“Ross’s appointment is also vital for the company, given the increasing number of requests we are receiving for the design and execution of data fusion and other types of integration projects.”
