The purchase of the company – which analyses the spending of more than 160m paying digital gamers worldwide – will complement and strengthen Nielsen’s video games and esports offering.  The market intelligence covers digital games, gaming video content, VR/AR reality across mobile, PC and consoles.

SuperData gives clients custom and syndicated data and tracks the consumption of games-as-media, including esports and gaming streaming content on digital media platforms.

Janelle Benjamin, COO and co-founder, SuperData, said: "Gamers are the trailblazers for media consumption and have become more important than ever to the global entertainment landscape. SuperData and Nielsen’s combined capabilities will allow us to provide gold standard insights that are essential to the growth of the industry."

SuperData is headquartered in New York, with clients across North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
