Polling raises funds for charity

UK – Insight agency ClearView Research has raised money for the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation by giving participants in a research project the option to donate their incentive to the charity.

Jar of money

ClearView Research was commissioned by the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights to conduct research on the views, attitudes and perceptions of people from the black community in the UK in relation to human rights.

The research found that over 75% of black people surveyed do not believe their human rights are equally protected compared to white people.

Additionally, 85% of black people did not feel that they would be treated the same as a white person by police, and 60% do not believe their health is as equally protected by the NHS, according to the study.

ClearView offered participants the opportunity to donate the amount of money that they would have earned for taking part in the research to the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation.

Over 65% of participants made a donation, according to the agency. ClearView match-funded this and then donated £3170 to the charity.

Kenny Imafidon, managing director and co-founder at ClearView Research, said: "It is important that all research organisations, despite their need to make a profit, have a strong social purpose and moral conscience. We should ensure we use our talent, treasure i.e. money, and time to support important causes and charities.

"At ClearView Research, we have taken a new approach to polling and encourage others to follow suit, so raising money for charities through polling becomes the norm and not the exception in our industry."

Fieldwork was conducted between 29th July – 12th August with 515 black adults.
