Rainey (pictured) was at Sky for nine years, holding a number of positions and ultimately head of strategic projects across Sky Europe. She has also worked at Royal Mail.

Rainey is taking over from Jessica Salmon who recently moved to a commercial marketing role at O2.

She said: "I'm thrilled to be joining such a customer-centric organisation at a time when there are so many opportunities for O2 to explore. Having been at Sky championing customer insight through a great deal of expansion and diversification it is clear the value of research during these times is immense."
