Red C will join the Business Post Group alongside the news title the Business Post and events and conference business iQuest & Business Post Live, and will act as a lead company in the group’s data and insights pillar, working with other businesses in the group portfolio.

Founded in 2003, Red C has offices in Dublin and London. Under the terms of the acquisition, the company will continue to operate under the Red C brand with its existing management team led by chief executive Richard Colwell, managing director Sinéad Mooney, and UK joint managing directors Richard Barton and Charlotte Butterworth.

The deal was funded by the Business Post Group’s existing capital providers – a shareholder group led by Enda O’Coineen, the majority owner and founder, and Beachpoint Capital Partners.

Colwell said: “Combined, we believe there are huge opportunities to drive growth and expansion in new markets and sectors, while providing even better industry leading business insight and services to current clients.”

Enda O’Coineen, publisher and chief executive at the Business Post Group, said: “The investment in Red C marks a significant step in the Business Post Group’s strategy to help lead the reinvention of the challenged Irish media landscape.

“This announcement forms a key part of the expansion of the Business Post Group as it continues to develop into a dynamic, flexible, high-end, tech-smart cohort of businesses focused on media, events, data, and technology services.”

Red C has conducted political polling for the Business Post since it was founded.

Sinéad Mooney, managing director, Red C, said: “The partnership has flourished over the years, and this is a further step in strengthening that relationship. We believe that Red C will make an excellent addition to the overall Business Post Group as it continues to strengthen its dynamic, flexible, high-end, tech-smart cohort of businesses focused on media, events, data, software, and services.”

Red C’s operations in the UK specialise in multi-market insight for brands. Managing director Richard Barton added: “Over the last five years, Charlotte and I have really valued the ability to build an autonomous and successful business that blends the huge talents of our great London team with the support network of the wider Red C Group.

“With this acquisition we’re excited to start the next chapter of this journey, and have exciting plans for future investment and growth in the UK market.”
