WPP said to be nearing Kantar deal

UK – WPP is reportedly nearing the conclusion of its partial sale of Kantar to private equity firm Bain Capital.

The sale of a majority stake in Kantar is being finalised and could be announced within days, according to sources cited by Bloomberg

Bain has been discussing the purchase of a 60% stake in the market research business, the sources said.

WPP declined to comment.

WPP entered exclusive talks with Bain last week. The discussions involve “the sale of a majority shareholding in Kantar” in a deal valuing Kantar at around $4bn, WPP said at the time.

The company has previously said it wants to retain a 25% to 40% stake in Kantar.
