Lamb joined Asda in 2011 from the Post Office, where she was head of insight and customer experience. Prior to that, she held senior insight roles at Debenhams and Sainsbury’s.

The news of Lamb’s departure was circulated in an internal memo. Her last day at Asda will be 18th September.

Lamb is leaving the supermarket to "pursue new opportunities outside of the business" and "gain experience across other industries", according to the memo.

It is unclear whether a successor has been appointed.

Asda did not respond to requests for comment ahead of publication.
