Government redesigns behavioural insights framework

UK – The government has launched a framework for behavioural insights, to tailor public services to citizens.

The new Crown Commercial Service (CCS) framework will support public bodies to procure expertise from organisations offering behavioural insights, and now offers a wider choice of suppliers, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The framework builds on its predecessor, which was delivered by the Behavioural Insights Team, one of the companies named in the new agreement.

The agreement is expected to be worth up to £16m over four years. The other suppliers appointed to the roster are CFE Research, Kantar UK, McKinsey and Ipsos Mori. CCS is also awaiting the return of an agreement from one other supplier.

John Manzoni, permanent secretary for the cabinet office and chief executive of the Civil Service said: “Behavioural insights have been a part of policy making at the heart of government for a significant amount of time now. This new framework will enable all public sector organisations to access this expertise, helping them to design efficient, effective public services that meet the real needs of citizens.”
