Ipsos grows revenue by 5.6% in 2022

FRANCE – Ipsos has reported revenue of €2.4bn for 2022, representing year-on-year organic growth of 5.6%, according to the company’s full-year financial results.

Total growth for the year was 12%, and excluding what Ipsos called ‘the temporary net impact of Covid-related contracts’, organic growth was 8%.

The company recorded organic growth of 3.8% in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared with the same period in 2021, but saw a slowdown compared with the third quarter in certain markets, particularly in China.

The strongest growth came from the Americas region, driven by public affairs, healthcare, work with large technology players and the Ipsos.Digital platform.

European business remained stable, while Asia-Pacific region grew by 9%.

In terms of business lines, the consumer insight business had the strongest performance in 2022, with organic growth of 11% compared with 2021, while the client and employee business line grew by 6.5% and doctors and patients’ research increased by 6%.

The company’s citizens business, however, declined in 2022 (-8.5%) after its previous boost in 2020-21 due to Covid testing programmes.

In its full-year financial statement, Ipsos remarked on the “continuing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties” threatening businesses.

The company said: “While inflation appears to be easing overall, underlying inflation (excluding food and energy prices) has not peaked. Moreover, the significant tightening of monetary policies could limit the resumption of economic growth this year. That said, the outlook for 2023 is more favourable than a few months ago.

“Uncertainties also represent opportunities for Ipsos. Both companies and governments have an increased need to understand the dynamics of consumption and public opinion in a world increasingly sensitive to social and environmental issues and in a context of multiple crises.”
