Kantar shutters Philippines TV ratings
The move follows the closure of broadcaster ABS-CBN, a key media client for Kantar in the country.
ABS-CBN ceased operations of its free TV and radio channels after the Philippine Congress voted not to renew its 25-year broadcasting franchise, which expired in May.
The closure of Kantar Philippines’ TV ratings will result in 50 job losses during the fourth quarter of the year.
The company’s other services in the Philippines include ad expenditure, social TV and consumer survey tools.
A spokesperson for Kantar said: “Kantar can confirm it is ending its TV ratings services in the Philippines effective 31st December 2020. With ABS-CBN’s loss of its free-to-air licence, Kantar has lost its ‘keystone’ client for TV ratings information in the country.
“All other Kantar offerings and services in the Philippines continue as normal and are unaffected by the closure of the TV ratings service.”
