Michael Brown awarded Bayes Business School fellowship
As well as teaching about market research and media measurement, Brown (pictured) will also share with Bayes students his knowledge of purpose marketing and in particular ‘unstereotyping’, the task of using the cultural influence of advertising to tackle stigma in society.
In addition to his role at UM, Brown is founding co-chair of MRSpride, the Market Research Society’s (MRS’s) network for LGBTQ+ people in the research, data and analytics sector.
Brown was appointed fellow of MRS and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) in 2023.
Professor Caroline Wiertz, professor of marketing at Bayes, who co-nominated Brown for the Bayes fellowship, said: “Michael has been committed and generous in his support for Bayes, both through his advice and through his visiting lectures and client workshops for our undergraduate and postgraduate students, which always receive excellent feedback.”
Enyi Nwosu, chief strategy officer at UM, said: “We are very proud of Michael’s contribution to our partners at Bayes, which is an important presence in the global business and marketing community.
“While his impact in our agency is significant, it’s excellent to see future generations of marketing professionals benefiting from it too.”
Brown added: “This is such special recognition, though any contribution I have made has been returned many times over through what I’ve learned from Bayes students as well as the pleasure of being a part of the Bayes community.
“Business schools benefit immensely from close collaboration with practitioners, and I’d advise all my colleagues in the advertising, media and research industries to build direct relationships with schools, as the benefits and opportunities are extensive.”
