Mintel launches AI CPG concept tool

UK – Consumer insight business Mintel has developed a product development concept tool for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands.

The tool, ‘Mintel Spark', generates AI-based mock-up images for concepts, based on closed-loop data from Mintel’s research.

Mintel said it launched the tool to address a lack of product innovation. According to data from the company’s Global New Products Database, 35% of CPG launches in 2024 were new products, while 65% were renovations of existing products or brands.

Matt Nelson, chief executive at Mintel, said the tool “connects the dots between consumer, innovation and market insights to reveal the opportunities with strong market potential, giving brands the confidence to move forward”.

Nelson added: “The feedback from our clients has been incredible, with some calling it a data-driven shortcut to market-leading innovation. We're excited to be partnering with so many of them to transform how brands innovate on a global scale.”
