Prior to his role at Liberty Global, Smith spent 15 years at Weber Shandwick, the global network PR agency.

The research and advisory firm for reputation has also hired James Bickford as commercial director. Bickford joins from Leo Burnett Consultancy, where he was managing partner of the Asia Pacific business.

“Whilst the annual Reputation Leaders Network is taking place in London today, we are delighted to announce two significant appointments in Marcus and James," said Jamie Bedard, president and CEO of Reputation Institute.

"These two senior hires underline our commitment to the UK market, and the growing recognition by UK companies that reputation is a boardroom issue that has bottom line impact.

Marcus and James’ considerable reputation management experience- and Marcus’ specific experience as a Reputation Institute client- will be invaluable in helping us achieve our UK growth ambitions.”
