Angus Reid names former Ipsos Canada leader as board chairman
As part of the change, Angus Reid will remain on the board of directors and continue in his role as chief executive officer.
The company said that Reid’s decision to step aside as chairman would allow him to become more involved in marketing and product strategic areas while continuing to lead the company’s overall vision.
Bennewies began his career at Angus Reid in 1985, where he served until the company’s acquisition by Ipsos in 2000.
At Ipsos, Bennewies held several leadership roles, including global chief talent officer and chief executive officer of Ipsos Canada.
In addition, Bennewies has served as chair of the Canadian Research Insights Council.
Reid said: “Having Gary take on the role of chairman frees me up to focus more on building out our marketing efforts and accelerating product development.
“His leadership at the board level will help us push forward in key areas, ensuring that we continue to set the standard in the market research industry.”
Bennewies added: “Angus Reid Group has an impressive track record of success, and I am looking forward to working with Angus on the strategic direction of the business while freeing him up to focus more deeply on the day-to-day operations and expansion.
“I’ve known Angus for over 30 years and as my obligations to Ipsos Canada have wound down I welcomed the opportunity to work alongside him again. Based on our history I’m confident that together we can take the business to even greater heights.”
