Nelson (pictured) will lead Magid’s local media core consulting team and help shape the company’s strategy. She joined the company in July 2020 as a senior consultant.

Before joining Magid, Nelson led local media operations for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Ontario, leading a group of eight CBC, multi-platform stations including three TV markets, seven radio stations and one digital-only station.

She also previously ran digital for CBC, as well as Canada’s largest newspaper, the Toronto Star. She started her career as a newspaper reporter.

Jaime Spencer, executive vice-president, head of local media at Magid, said: “Marissa has been a tremendous addition to the team.

“On top of that, her extensive background across media platforms and deep leadership experience is perfectly suited to help our team attack the challenges in the local media business.”
